That’s right folks, wedding season has begun!  Now being where we are on the wonderful West Coast of Scotland, we are surrounded by beautiful wedding venues - all the way from the shores of Loch Lomond to the tip of Kintyre.  Travel south from here in Lochgilphead, down to the scenic, single-track Kilberry road, and you will find the stunning Crear, where couples can be married on the beach – you may have seen this beauty spot spectacularly advertised on the Glasgow subway with a couple being followed down the beach by the full Mid Argyll Pipe Band.  In the opposite direction, a little further north from us towards Oban is Lunga House -  situated with its beautiful gardens and views out across the Sound of Jura towards the Corryvreckan whirlpool.  Spot a hill you want to get married on?  Find someone who can legally carry out the ceremony (and is daft enough to climb up there with you) and you can!  Because in Scotland you have the freedom to pick any wedding location from hill to glen to beach you could hold your ceremony in any of an array of beautiful spots in Argyll and Bute.

What we love most of all about being near all these wonderful wedding venues is meeting brides and grooms coming or going from their big day who have time for a look around the town. Often, we get visits from their wedding guests (some of whom are in desperate need of a last-minute gift!), and we enjoy helping them find something that fits.  So here are some of our favourite go-to gifts for happy couples…

Keep things traditional, and perfectly Scottish, with a quaich.  Recognised as a ‘cup of friendship’ and signifying trust between those drinking from it, a quaich is often thought of as a meaningful and romantic wedding gift to give.  Traditionally they were made from wood, then silver and pewter designs came into play, like this Celtic detail Brass and Pewter Quaich from The Quaich Company.  For a modern and unique take on the quaich take a look at our Highland Stoneware designs.  The ceramic, hand-painted quaichs come in a range of designs including landscape and seascape scenes and look wonderful on display.

Emma Bridgewater Pottery frequently features in our gift guides, because we think her designs are the three P’s – popular, practical and pretty.  Opt for the classic pink hearts range, we love the idea of a teapot and matching mugs if your budget will stretch to it, or how about his and hers set of mugs like the Polka Dot Mr and Mrs Mug Set?
It may seem like a simple suggestion but what better way for the newlyweds to have a beautiful reminder of their wedding day than a photo frame?  We have a range of frames in neutral colours and different sizes and finishes, that would compliment any home décor, like this popular hand distressed feathers frame from Almond Street which would suit an elegant black and white snap.

Toast the happy couple with a set of champagne flutes or even this set of 4 Polka Champagne Saucers. Rachel, our resident wedding attendee, loves to add in a bottle of fizz with a personalised photo label of the glowing pair (if she is organised enough) and once they have finished the bottle they can keep it as a momento.  Of course, if they aren't fizzing fans then we have a range of glasses and decanters by LSA to suit any tipple, from beer and wine to gin and sherry.
