Mother’s Day is Sunday 22nd March, a day for celebrating all the marvellous mums in our lives and showing them how much they are loved appreciated. As usual we can’t wait to share with you our favourite present recommendations and seriously hope that we’re able to provide you with some suggestions that you wouldn’t otherwise have thought of and help you find a gift as unique as she is!

It doesn’t get much more unique then something that’s hand crafted. If you’re looking for truly individual then how about a piece of Highland Stoneware? Each piece of Highland Stoneware is individually hand-painted in the Highlands of Scotland by different artists with their own styles, so no two pieces are ever the same. This Landscape sugar bowl is a lovely little piece which could be used to serve so much more than just sugar – and would equally make a delightful addition to a kitchen shelf or dresser as the miniature work of art that it is!

Or how about a soy candle tin from Agnes & Cat? Agnes & Cat only incorporate natural and vegan friendly ingredients in all of their products, they’re not tested on animals; their soaps are all lovingly handmade and scented with the best of British fine fragrances; their candles contain only natural soy wax poured into reusable containers and all beautifully presented. Anything from this range would make a lovely present, but we particularly like this White Fig fragranced candle as it is fantastic value for money, beautifully scented and has an impressive up to 35 hour burn time.

If your mum is the green fingered type, then how about something from the Scottish Fine Soaps Gardeners range? This Gardener’s Hand Cream will give hard working hands some intensive therapy. Purifying tea tree oil helps reduce redness and promote skin healing, leaving hands feeling soothed, smooth, and delicately fragranced.

The new Desert Blooms collection from Gisela Graham (as featured in our cover photo!) might also be worth a look, released for this spring, it is a floral design with a twist and features on lots of lovely products, with the high quality you can expect from Gisela Graham. We especially like the ceramics, like this beautiful oblong plate which is only £15.00.

If you’re buying for a mother if young child then this heart-warming antique bronze finish Mother and Child on Blocks Sculpture might be the solution. It is a large rough cast sculpture, standing at 28cm high, and it beautifully depicts a mother's love, showing her tenderly touching heads with her little one. It’s a very sweet statue and would definitely make a heartfelt present.

Whatever your mum’s age, hobbies or interests there’s always one gift that you can’t go wrong with (and a gift suggestions run down from The Square Peg would not be complete without one) Yes, you guessed it… a mug! Whether tea is her tipple or she’s a connoisseur of Coffee, we’re sure a sparkly new favourite mug will be most welcome. Our pick of the bunch this Mother’s Day is from Sass and Belle. This Blue Willow Mum Mug is sure to bring a smile to her face – with the simple statement I love you Mum, what more do you need to say?

Of course, Mother’s Day shouldn’t all be about presents – we hope that you’re able to spend some time with your lovely Mum, Grandmother or any other Mummy who is just doing a cracking job this Mother’s Day. And these moments don’t have to cost the earth, although we’re sure a fancy afternoon tea or dinner out would be very much appreciated, don’t underestimate the gift of time. A Sunday afternoon walk, or visit is as good for the soul as any present. Whatever you decide, remember the day is all about her, let her know you love her, and any gift will be the perfect one!
